NWC Wallet
Nostr Wallet Connect (NWC) is the easiest way to connect a Lightning wallet. It works with dozens of services — someone else runs the infrastructure, you just paste a connection string.
Compatible services
- Alby Hub
- Coinos
- LNbits (via NWC extension)
- Minibits
- Any service that provides a
nostr+walletconnect://URI
How to connect
- Open Buho Jump → Wallet tab
- Tap Connect Wallet
- Choose Nostr Wallet Connect
- Paste the NWC connection string from your wallet provider
- Optionally give it a name (e.g., "Alby" or "Daily spending")
- Tap Connect
You can also scan a QR code if your wallet provider shows one.
How it works
NWC communicates through Nostr relays. Your wallet provider listens on specific relays, and Buho Jump sends payment requests through the same relays. Everything is encrypted between your extension and the wallet.
The connection string contains:
- The wallet's public key
- The relay(s) to communicate through
- A secret for encrypted messaging
Security
The connection string is stored encrypted on your device (AES-256-GCM). It's never sent anywhere except to the configured relays for payment operations.
Your wallet provider controls what permissions the connection has. Many providers let you set limits on the connection itself.
