Messaging Overview
Buho Jump includes a full messaging system. Private one-on-one conversations, group chats, and public channels — all end-to-end encrypted where it matters.
Private messages
Direct messages use NIP-17 encryption (gift-wrapped, double-sealed). Nobody except you and the recipient can read the content — not even the relays that store the messages.
Start a conversation by searching for someone by name, email-style address, or pasting their profile link.

Groups
Three types of group chats:

Features
- Reply threading — reply to specific messages
- Reactions — react with any emoji
- Self-destructing messages — set a timer (5 minutes, 1 hour, 24 hours)
- Content warnings — mark sensitive content so recipients choose when to see it
- Inline tips — send Bitcoin tips directly in the conversation
- Message deletion — delete your own messages
- Muting — mute conversations or users
- Search — search across all conversations and messages
- Unread indicators — badges show how many unread messages you have
Contact discovery
Find people to message:
- Your follow list — contacts from your Nostr profile
- Name search — search the network for people by name
- Direct address — paste a profile link or email-style address
