Group Chats
Buho Jump supports three types of group chats. Each serves a different purpose.
Private Groups
End-to-end encrypted groups for close friends and small teams.
- Messages are encrypted and sent to each member individually
- Works best with up to 100 people
- Only members can read messages
- When a member is removed, security refreshes automatically — they can't read future messages
Creating a private group
- Open Chat → tap compose → choose Private Group
- Enter a group name
- Search and add members from your contacts
- Confirm and create
Inviting members
Group owners can invite new members from the group info screen.
Communities
Server-hosted groups with admin controls. Good for larger communities.
- Hosted on a community server
- Supports moderators and admin roles
- Can be open (anyone joins) or closed (admin approval required)
Joining a community
Paste the invite link someone shared with you. The format looks like groups.example.com/group-name — Buho Jump handles the rest.
Creating a community
- Open Chat → tap compose → choose Community
- Switch to "Create" tab
- Enter a name and description
- Enter the server address (or leave blank for a default)
- Confirm and create — you'll be the admin
Open Channels
Public spaces where anyone can join and chat freely. No encryption — everything is visible.
Joining a channel
Paste the channel link, similar to joining a community.
Creating a channel
Enter a name and optionally a description. The channel is public from the start.
Group features
All group types share these features:
- Reply threading
- Reactions
- Message deletion (your own messages)
- Mute notifications per group
- Member list (communities and channels)
- Admin actions (communities): invite, remove, edit group info
